I really enjoyed last week’s Dear Cindy about your wardrobe and style tips - but you missed out a key component! I know from following you that you’re something of a shoe freak. But we didn’t hear anything about shoes. I’d love to know more about the shoes we can see in the background of some of your selfies, and where you get your shoes from?

You’re so right! I’m a shoe obsessive - I ADORE gorgeous shoes, and I have an embarrassingly large collection.

My shoe worship started at university. I read English at Somerville College, Oxford, and I remember walking past the Oxford Bally shoe store and seeing in the window this stunningly beautiful red stiletto, with a little gold band around the tip of the heel. I was a penniless student, but I was obsessed - I saved up, went without food and I bought those stilettos. I took them back to my room in college, and I put them on my mantelpiece, and simply looked at them and admired them for quite some time, before I finally wore them.
