The Most Important Thing To Know About Pitching Anyone Anything
And How To Pre-emptively Solve It
Dear Cindy,
I’m frustrated and bored in my current position. I think my company could be deploying my skills much more effectively. I have an idea for a project I want to propose that I want to lead, and that I think could be very beneficial for the business. Do you have any tips on the best way to pitch something new and different to management?
I sometimes feel like I’ve spent the majority of my life pitching.
As a student, I pitched thinking (in the form of essays). In my early career as a theatre marketing and publicity officer, I pitched plays. In my advertising career, I’ve pitched countless campaigns. As an entrepreneur, I pitch to investors and business partners. As a public speaker, I pitch thinking (in the form of talks).
All those years of pitching have taught me the one thing that matters more than anything else when you are pitching anything to anybody.
